Winter Easy

in Updates

Quick update on the well being of the bucks. This winter has not been difficult at all for which we are grateful. We are quietly celebrating one year without death (early last February saw the demise of George in extreme cold weather).

The near-daily feeding regimen is keeping all the animals in a plump state and giving them insulation from any sudden shifts in temperature. Ice has posed some problems as deer are notoriously uncoordinated when running on ice. However, Allan has scattered some old hay on the ground near the feeding stations and this gives them some traction and we’ve seen no limping or signs of injury.
